I’m very happy about the response of the #tophivers and #hivebasics initiatives. Today I want to present to you all with a new challenge: The initiative will be called #NewHivers and your task is to become the guide of someone new and help them discover and give their first steps on their ecosystem.

Everyone needs some sort of guidance at the beginning of the Hive journey. This is your opportunity to be the light for someone else.

Hive is a great place to share content and everyone has the opportunity to earn some extra income. Hivers that have invested time and money know that it is not a piece of cake, that’s why I decided to create this initiative and motivate all of you to reach out to the new members of the community.

To PARTICIPATE:

  • Invite someone new to Hive (EXTRA POINTS) or go to the #introduceyourself tag and find someone that you would like to help.
  • Make a full post with recommendations and some tips for the new users. You can invite them to a Hive community that fits their niche. You can also invite them to a Discord server or to follow you and some of the best Hive users on Twitter.
  • Use the tag #Hive and #NewHivers on your Hive post and remember to also leave a comment on the introduction post of the New Hiver.
  • Share your post on Twitter and use the #Hive, #NewHivers, and the #NewHiverMentor hashtag, you can also use #posh and any other relevant hashtags that will help promote Hive there.

Do your due diligence and make sure that your New Hiver is a real person and someone with true interest on the platform.

There will be up to ten 100% upvotes to the winners. Five will be for the New Hivers and the other five will be given on the post of the users that are making the recommendations and tips to the new Hivers.

Even if your post isn’t on the top 10, upvotes will be given in lesser amounts to active participants.

The @threespeak account will also be giving out extra votes for the videos uploaded on https://3speak.online/.

A similar initiative has been announced by @victoriabsb. I'll be joining forces with her and all the communities and sponsors that are helping. Check out the posts:

Even though Victoria's Initiative is for the Spanish community but I still invite you to participate and I will be delegating HP to new members that you can find and give mentorship so they can make transactions on the Blockchain.

Let's help New Hivers!

Awesome initiative!

I love how armies lead by you, @nathanmars, #powerhousecreatives and so many more are taking to the streets in formation.

I have stepped up my participation with these and on my own on Twitter and Facebook.

A million hands each doing a little makes for 2 million hands in short order!

Nice work my man.

Very good idea. Guiding new users is fun. Because it reminds me of the first time I got to know this platform. Thank you for the support you have given us so far.

Excelente iniciativa. En su momento me costó mucho trabajo aprender. Y más por el idioma, ya que en español hay poco contenido. Les felicito.

Great idea and as we all know you from another previous platform and vic is the perfect female advocate. Does all the help @HEYHAVEYAMET does every day the last two years and the @theterminal with all the redfishrally candidates (24) this summer rally run with educational rally contests and with blog challenges and paid quizzes also count??

I have always been of the opinion that recruiting people on hive is not the problem. I mean my referrals speak already for itself. The major issue is retaining users. About a week ago, i decided to stop inviting newbies and focus on guiding the old ones and i can say that some of them are getting a hang of it while following up the others. However new referrals are still coming in, so I decided to start a whatsapp group named newbiehub to help guide the old ones who are finding it very difficult to continue. That was what brought about my newbie gude series on hive platform in order to break things down to people.

This is a super cool initiative and a call to others who can support retaining of newbies. It wont take anything to support a newbie a day. Support their introductory post and support quality efforts from newbies.

I am so excited about this initiative

Hello dear friend @theycallmedan good afternoon
Excellent. we always worry about bringing new people to our community, but then we forget about them, and as you know there are many frustrating things on the growth path, and consequently they end up giving up, or worse, doing things wrong.
I take the opportunity to wish you a wonderful weekend

Lol this is what I said when all this drama went south.
Hive might think "yay we community"
But no... You ran off scared.
Steemit however still has the money and even dumped SBD because the Koreans secure liquidity. They're also very committed to the social element of the platform.

Here on HIVE:
"Let's go harder on the MLM formula."

IMPORTING POOR

Is what that leads to. ALWAYS.

I really don’t know what’s your true intentions here.

You’re comparing Apples and Oranges 🍊

Hive is decentralised STEEM is not.

STEEM has bot users Hive has real passionate long term committed community.

See you in Hive moon 🌓

I really don’t know what’s your true intentions here.

I have no 'specific' true intentions here but inform and show some crude realities.

You’re comparing Apples and Oranges 🍊

I don't agree. Both are blockchain 'Social Networks' in the quest to increase their faithful userbase.

Hive is decentralised STEEM is not.

That's not excuse. They must be doing something better than us here on Hive in the recruitment, adoption and retaining department without much fuss. In order of have been able to keep those increasing high numbers in the graphics that clearly leave us biting the dust behind them.

STEEM has bot users Hive has real passionate long term committed community.

Better not even touch and remove the lid of that tin of worms mate. Hive still have its always undying oligarchic landlords and perpetual scatterbrained circle jerks as its own congenital ills to name just two.

See you in Hive moon 🌓

Yeah, thank you. In a waning or crescent moon? 🌙

I took ownership of STEEM and invested 500 days and created a value for others.

I know what I'm capable of of doing.

Thank you.

We'll take Hive to the moon and join us if you believe in your own true potential.

Yeah, I know. Most of us saw your 500 days Odyssey & Investment back in the day.

I know what I'm capable of of doing.

Yep, we also know that. And we all know of what we're capable of doing too. I certainly did my own part one year earlier than you over there. So, you could say I've seen, tested, scrutinized and dissected a lot more stuff than you in these blockchained 'Social' paradises in their way to the moon. :)

Thank you for doing this Dan.

Every Hiver needs understand that.

Network effects create a winner-take-all dynamic. The leading network tends towards becoming the only network.

Networks have "network effects." Adding a new participant increases the value of the network for all existing participants.

Let's help New Hivers and always bring new people to our Hive whenever we can

So the MLM formula is what this place boils down to? Man those poor people working for a little hive have a true hero in you.

Rather than
-invite you family
-write a shill post
-promote the cult

Why not an initiative to boost comments?
ALL newbies can participate and enrich the platform. The post creators could in essence curate comments and recommended them to a committee that votes on them weekly.

That would exist as true engagement and also will stand as a real positive for the platform because posts that get lots of comments exist as excellent reads even after payouts. That value. And... IS WHAT A SOCIAL PLATFORM IS MEANT TO BE!

Do you know that's the MAIN REASON why people walk away from here (and steemit). When their content that they put much effort into sits there like no one gave a crap about it. Because rely, no one gave a crap about it.
There's like a handful of creators here who get a little engagement. The rest sit with zero comments or the bullshit promotion accounts.

Oh and badges.
Yes... "We have badges!"

This is really a great initiative. I am a content explorer, always looking for good content, but sometimes I find some newbies trying to improve themselves, I try to help them and encourage them. I am still an open-source to them. Definitely, I love to help any newbies and give them a full guideline, so they can start their journey to the hive.

Hey Dan, great initiative! Onboarding is one of the main problems on Hive and maintaning new users is an even bigger one!

By the way, I would love to see a similar initiative but this time focused 100% on communities. I really believe that communities are the key to maintain new users on chain.

It's quite tough for a single person like you to support every author on chain but it becomes quit easy when community leaders receive support (for example delegations or following a community curation trail) 'cause then this job is split among many more people. The bigger the rewards, the most likely new users will keep posting.

I am always available for a chat regarding how we can support various niche communities.
If you ever have some free time and feel like curating, you can take a look at our skateboarding community called @skatehive.
Cheers man and keep up the awesome work

I love this initiative @theycallmedan. I wish I had more time as I would most certainly be happy to mentor a new hivean. My small contribution is via @traciyork's iteration of @streetstyle's #hivePUD where I offer two small delegations and support to two red fish each month (my post about this will be out a little later in the week). All of that said, if time frees up, I will most certainly and very happily mentor a New Hiver or three! Thanks, as always for your support of the little fish!

File this one under Schadenfreude, Steem has now dropped out of the Top 100 by market cap, now at 102. And there’s a weird 99/98 battle going on:

Fantastic project @theycallmedan! As you know, @theterminal has focused on new users of #HIVE for quite some time through the use of contests, promotion of introductory posts, and providing tutoring and encouragement in their Discord Server. @brittandjosie, @thekittygirl, @wesphilbin, @drakernoise, and a great many others spend a great deal of their time helping folks.

@jamerussell prepares a post every day using the @heyhaveyamet account to highlight introductory posts of new HIVE users. This is a wonderful resource for those who would like to personally mentor a new HIVE member.

I took my time because I wanted to create really valuable content for those inexperienced users (In the next few minutes I will upload the English version, but it seemed important to me that people who know me understand my message more clearly). Although I created my steemit's account 2 years ago just now I can say that I understand this wonderful platform more, and all thanks to initiatives like this that you have created. Thanks @theycallmedan

My little contribution on Twitter and instagram because it is with the second one that I have created the most personal influence.
