Why did sinless Jesus get baptized? (Topic Review)
Even though Jesus clearly had no need to be baptized He still allowed Himself to undergo baptism. One consistent trait that Christ never failed to portray was the trait of humility. He showcased it when He washed the feet of His disciples.
John the Baptist didn't see Himself worthy enough to take off the shoe of Jesus. But later on He found himself dipping Jesus into the river and bringing Him out. Jesus did things that ordinarily what other people of the same status as His wouldn't have done. For instance praying even though He was God.
In the case of baptism he didn't do it because He needed to be cleansed. We see from scriptures that He did it to fulfill all righteousness. He was all about obeying the will of His father above even though it meant bringing Himself low.
Jesus's plan was to set the pace for us to follow. Through His act He taught us to always obey irrespective of the status we may attain in life. His way of life is one that is worthy of emulation.
