Cycling #ChitChat ā Lifeās Better on Two Wheels
It was such a great surprise to see our cyclist Arlenis Sierra finishing in the top ten of this classic race on Sunday.
So, š Iām thrilled to contribute here with my Cycling ChitChat (you can see I canāt just call it a Sunday thing either) on this inspiring subject: women in ParisāRoubaix.

And how funny was my friend, my bike mechanic, when I sent him my reaction. He said: yes, she finished ninth, just imagine, used to the potholes here in Cuba, for her the cobblestones of ParisāRoubaix are nothing. I laughed so hard at that.
But hey, lifeās always a mix of sweet and sour. If you missed it, check out this videoāit shows how brutal it was. That crash at 1:11 is nasty. Honestly, it broke my heart.

That ending shot was something elseāGerman rider Franziska Koch getting past Dutch legend Marianne Vos. Makes me wonder if anyone here knows her. Her dad passed away only a week ago (so sad), and she wanted to dedicate her win to him. She didnāt manage it, but honestly, sheās a champ in my book. Thatās what cycling doesāwell, sport in generalāit makes you pull strength out of nowhere. Or better said, out of where you think thereās nothing left. With the right mindset, you can always squeeze out a bit more.
As a Cuban and a big admirer of Arlenis Sierra, this result makes me proud. I have to admitā¦ I love being able to share this news here. I donāt see myself as a racing cyclist; Iām more into cycle touring and photography, thatās where I feel truly inspired.
And if one day I join a competitive eventāwhich I mightāI wouldnāt mind coming last. I wouldnāt even mind if the organisers had packed up and the crowd had gone home before I crossed the finish line. What matters is crossing it, even alone, without cheers. š¤£
In the Sunday ChitChat I asked a few questions, focusing on the male stars, especially the Slovenian Tadej PogaÄar. From what little Iāve seen, one thing is clear: he never settles for a narrow win. He wants to win big. Thatās why, when the others are spent, he grows stronger, climbing mountains as if fresh as a lettuce, leaving the peloton behind. And even before the finish line, knowing no one is chasing, he keeps pushing. This is a powerful lesson. We can apply it to many areas of life, and itās an image that is both valuable and inspiring.
Iām not a sports nut and I donāt really back anyone in particular. I just enjoy the show and love checking out what drives the athletes. Thatās the real deal, the bit that matters. So yeah, I enjoyed Van Aertās win. And once again life gives us a nudge: donāt take anything for granted. The game (whatever it is) aināt over till itās over.

Hi @nanixxxāthe world of cycling sounds fascinating when you tell it like this. At 1:11āmisfortune strikes!āa fellow countrywoman gliding over cobblestones as if the surface were perfectly smooth. The grit of a racer who finished second... a future champion accompanied by a unicorn... and honestly, Iām not really into sports, but I absolutely love your posts!

It is such a shame that the women's race doesn't get the same coverage the men's does. Many pundits openly say they enjoy the women's more as there is more drama most of the time and better "real" racing. The hell of the north looks like a true shit course so to come in 9th is an incredibly admiral achievement!
Yes, it happens in many sports... But here weāre going to be sure to highlight womenās achievements whenever we get the chance.
The story of Arlenis Sierra is really inspiring. Weāve got some real fighters among our female cyclists here.
I agree with Flemingfarm indeed, women sports should get the same attention. I might watch that the next time though, easier on the eyes than a bunch of men with shaven legs on awesome bikes š

Since you asked me to let you know about events, I thought Iād mention it to you, hehehe... Iāll keep an eye out from now on. There are loads of cycling events.
The good thing about cycling is that it suits people of all level. You don't have to be competing to enjoy being out on the bike.
