All cryptos across the board are down not just bitcoin. Will it come back and make new highs? Who knows. I was lucky enough to buy back in april and sold my entire position right before it hit 20k. BTC is like online poker 10 years ago. It took me about 2 games to figure out that there were 8 players working together to milk the 2 new seats.
There are enough new coins to get into with a few hundred bucks. Get your feet wet and learn about the coins and the fees. You are still the 1% of the crypto investors. The blind BTC investors are like lottery / scratch off players. Everyone can become a good crypto investor by watching it and researching.

It is sad that people have lost so much, one thing I learned from the potstock boom was there’s a lot of pump and dumps, don’t buy in when something is flying so high that it goes up 10, 15% and for no reason, you can buy in when it’s low, at a loss knowing it will correct higher, but to try to jump in just because everyone is buying in is a sure sign of a pump, and usually a dump, bitcoin got pumped and not all these alt coins are getting attention for what? Go with and stay with some of the known coins that developers are working hard on, and if it drops to a certain price get out, if it goes back up to what it was buy back in, but as greg said only what u can afford.
Really the big investment is gold and silver, but yes you can make some nice money on cryptos but you can also lose a lot.....
To those stuck in Bitcoin... (I am not a financial advisor, and I don't give financial advice...) What I would do is diversify in to other cryptos. EOS is a great coin, you WILL make your money back, in-fact it will double soon. Litecoin is almost putting in a bottom, we are at a good entry point. Many of us expect Litecoin to Double very soon. Golem doubled in one day... Look for bargains, learn to read charts, cut your loses, become a professional trader, be patient, don't make emotional moves. You have to lose money to learn how to do it right. Good luck!

Greg, everyone is rotating into Ripple in anticipation for it's listing on Coinbase/GDAX. It's not rigged. Look at every crypto currency being down today except Ripple. Is wall street gaming IOTA as well?
