For the last week I undertook a long put off project, painting my kitchen and living room. As you will see the original colours are atrocious.

I also needed new hardware for the cupboards and my strapping sons did that! At 14 and 15 they are really handy now.

I went and found the realty photos from 3.5 years ago, right before we bought it.

That green and brown have driven me mad this whole time. With the fact that they painted the floors a blue grey...You would literally have to try to get colours that clashed that badly!

Now the cupboards and island are a brilliant white, much better on the eyes and way easier to clean!

The hardware went from an ancient black hinge and handle to a brushed nickel to match the big ass sink faucet and fridge.

My sons did a really good job! They had to drill holes and everything to change the hardware and I don't have many touch ups on the paint to do either.

Also we went from a fully outside hinge to a self closing so the cupboards fit slightly differently now, though they really got them looking as even as possible.

Big chonky handles for the big cupboards and little knobs for the small upper cupboards.

It's amazing what a little paint on the ceiling, walls and trim will do eh? Plus a nice big rug, thanks for the pro tip on where to score one for cheap @davedickeyyall 😄

Got the coffee table pulled closer to the couch to play Mario 3 lol 😂 You know, gotta do some slacking after all that work!

And a little dessert too 😋...

The project probably would have taken 3 days instead of 7 if I didn't have to bake a bit for the stores, and take care of my daily chores here as well, cleaning and feeding my family.

I felt like it must be nice to be a man, y'all get to focus solely on work, just obsess and grind out your jobs. I'm always multitasking and I get a scattered feeling when I have to wear too many different hats.

Also with a baking business I had to keep cleaning and sanitizing along the way. No one wants drywall mud dust or other shit on their food.

The best part of all was saying goodbye to this bitch:

With 8.5 foot ceilings I was up and down more than a whore's drawers 🤣

I meticulously taped everything along the way, I'm 💯 a perfectionist and did not want any paint oopsies on the ceiling or trim. I didn't care about the floors though, that's next years project. New flooring!

And I got this awesome ceiling paint that went on pink and dried white so I could see where I needed to paint. Ceilings are difficult that way. White on White. The lights up there and all that craning...

For now I'm just gonna enjoy my success in making my home more cozy for me.

I've never painted any of my previous homes in such a girly colour.
