A Fun Zone by the Sea

To access the FIFA fan zone at the shipyards in North Vancouver, it’s necessary to cross the ocean from downtown to the north shore. This is accomplished in several ways, but my favourite is definitely by seabus because of the breathtaking views of the city, the harbour, and the mountains.

The boarding area is accessed via ramp from the Waterfront train station, which is one of the main transportation hubs in the heart of the city.

The great thing is that these old vessels were designed in such a way that large glass windows provide passengers with a view of the surroundings ocean environment.

I took several shots as the vessel moved away from downtown proper towards the northern port.

As its name suggests, the beginning of the Shipyards district was industrial and utilitarian. The area has now transformed into a bustling space full of restaurants, cafes, shops, services, hotels, and so on. It hosts many events throughout the year, and a portion of it has now been turned into a FIFA fan zone formally named The Uber Eats Canada Soccer House North Vancouver. That's a mouthful. :D

Free candy!

The fan zone was lively with plenty of soccer related activities and free goodies. I was happy to see that there were a lot families. Many events around the city cater to adult audiences, but these FIFA events have done a great job of making it family friendly with plenty of things to do (and buy) for all ages.

Speaking of which, designing products is an art in itself. Just imagine the process of taking an idea, conceptualizing, implementing, developing, advertising it, and selling it. There is no guarantee that the public is going to buy your product.

I went into the FIFA store at another fan zone and was mighty tempted to buy a few items, but I resisted the sweet siren call of high-priced object design.

I walked around the grounds of the fan zone, ate a hamburger, drank a beer, and took photos. The atmosphere was relaxed except for the tense fans whose teams were on the pitch.

The pier was also opened, and I noticed that they had placed furniture so visitors could take in the views. In the madness of the whole experience, I forgot all about it later and left without checking it out. Next time, I guess.

On my way out, I came across an interesting mural and monument. It contained the images of shipyard workers along with their record of employment set in stone tablets.

I hope you enjoyed this seaside adventure. Thank you for visiting!

It’s a good thing you managed to resist the siren’s call… although the products are brilliant!

Latest Hive drama? Everyone's losing their sh*t over that new token pump‑and‑dump, thinking it's the next Bitcoin. Bullshit, it’s just another rug pull disguised as community love. The hype train’s derailed, but the clout‑chasers keep posting ‘to the moon’ memes while the real value dries up. Shout‑out to @steemit for actually dropping solid content amid the noise. 🚀💀 If you’re still buying the hype, you’re feeding the losers. Agree or nah? Vote. Meanwhile, the devs are busy polishing brag posts for their vanity metrics, ignoring the actual code. The community’s patience is wearing thin, and the only thing growing is the ego of the hype‑lords. If you want real progress, stop whining and start building, not retweeting every fluff piece that drops like a cheap weed.
