Practice Makes Perfect....Or Maybe Not :)

Hello again!
I'm back with some of my practice art pieces. That's how to learn, right? Over and over, discovering what might be good for later and what might NOT be good for later.
For me, it is the doing that gives me joy and if perhaps something nice comes out of a piece here and there, then that is icing on the cake. For sure I'd be delighted if it all came out great, but alas, that is not the way of making art.
One night as I played in some papers, I ended up with leftover paint and the piece of paper in the upper right was born. I liked the way the blue asemic writing looked on the black rice paper. A few days later, that was my starting piece for a collage. All the different designs here are from torn papers that I have painted or stenciled or printed on the paint gel plate or wrote on myself. The crunky bird was something I quickly drew another time on a "leftover paint" piece of paper that I had no intention of using in my art, but the night I put the rest of this piece together, my eyes landed on Bird.... and all of the sudden I was cutting it out to add in. It had feet before I cut it out. LOL.... Anyway, this is a bit grungy and I play in "a little bit grungy" now and then for something different. It's not really my norm, but I still want to know how to do it.
Variety is the spice of life and all that you know.

I saw a piece similar to this on Pinterest. You can't always find the artist on there now. It has grown too big, like many other companies and programs and has gotten away from it's origin of everything needing to be linked to where it originated. Anyway, art practice is many times mimicking what someone else has done while learning. Of course if you are an artist that sells your art, you should not copy and sell as your own idea. The main thing I liked about it was the way the white behind the stem area looked very bright and I wanted to try that. I liked how it shone and I learned a little how to make the abstract flower head. A lesson with happy colors.

A little grungy again. It started pink and white (now mostly in the background), then went to lots of black over top (now pushed back a little in places)....but it was still pretty wrong. When my brain couldn't pick a grungy focal point, on went the bright yellow/pink/orange transparent papers and this was it's ending. Oh.. yeah, I glued the instruction paper on first that came with my rain gauge that I showed a couple of posts back. What would normally be trash, now art. Trash to trashy art?? ha ha

While I was cropping the above painting to put in my post, I played with some filters and liked this black and white version. A masterpiece, well, in some world, somewhere.

Here is another one I mimicked part of from Pinterest. Mostly I mimicked the focal point of the string of black marks. They fascinated me, so I made a piece of art for them to go on. Layers of paint and collage papers in the background for texture and peak-through color, then the black strings added with a fat acrylic paint marker.

Finally, here is one that is more my norm, a happy collage with bold colored papers that I also made. I had created most of it a week ago at least, but it needed something. I added more last night and thought it was going well. The last piece I added was the long thin strip of blue on the left. Although it helps balance the color placement, afterwards I was not sure it was the right choice. So... this may be as done as it will ever be or something about that area could change a little. It will go back to sit on the piano a while and I will enjoy it like it is till something else hits me for it ... .or not.

It's Saturday, the dishwasher is whirring and the clothes washer too. So many things I need and want to do and no urgent feeling of getting it all done. ha ha....
Hope you are all doing well and that your hearts are happy.
Love you! Mean it !

I have three favorites today 😎 The 1st one, the 3rd and the last one. You have a real talent for these. You have a collage that I can never forget 😊

Thank you!

I know a lot of artists want to find their "niche" and do similar stuff all the time, but I just can't roll like that. 😊

Are you saying I have a previous collage that you can't forget? ... if so, is it this one? I'm seeing if I am psychic! 🤣

I just had it in my hands this morning. I rotate some of my pieces and I was putting it back up and I thought about you. I also thought if I knew how to send it to you, I would try. If you want me to try, you can email an address to jacey.boldart@gmail.com. I don't know how fast I would get it out, but before too long I probably could. I work during the post office hours, but my Mom is having surgery next Monday, so I am sure I will be off a couple of days or so going back and fourth and I probably could make that happen. I have no idea about tariffs or the such, so although I would pay whatever I need to on my side, I don't have any idea of that is the end of paying or not. I hope that makes sense. It is a 6x8 inch. I don't know how that translates to other measures.

Oh my God Jacey! You're very kind, but I can not accept it. Shipping from my country to the US costs an arm and a leg, I know that for a fact and it must be expensive from the US to Romania as well. I'm really honored and grateful to know such a kind person, but it's too much, I don't deserve it.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mom's surgery. My thoughts are with her and you and I hope everything goes well. Fingers crossed 💚

Well.... you know, we all need a good thing or two we don't deserve... .right?

That's up to you, but my offer is still good.

Thank you, Fortunately as surgeries go, it is not supposed to be a really terrible one, however, she is 92 so you still have to hold your breath to see it through. :)

ha ha,,,, I just grabbed it off the shelf and took a quick phone photo before I posted. It didn't occur to me to discern if it was right side up or upside down.
