Sunday ChitChat – Week 7 Highlights and New Prompts

Happy Sunday… perfect for a bit of cycling. Oh, my friends, we really are hooked on our bikes. It feels amazing (at least for me) to forget —or postpone— every worry or task and simply go out for a ride… to explore the world or to get some exercise. Every reason and every intention is perfectly valid.

And here’s today’s prompt… 😉

  1. With so many responsibilities —work, home, family— how do you manage to find time to keep turning the pedals? We’d love to hear your stories.
  2. Has no one at home complained yet about all those hours on the bike? I ask with affection, because balancing passions and responsibilities is quite an art.

This week we had even more activity here in our Community. The most notable posts were:

Cycling Talk February 1 2026 by Nozem01 — always the first to reply to the Sunday ChitChat. I doubt anyone will ever beat that record.

Cycling Community Weekly Mileage Update – “Another low miles week”… Lesmann’s bikes are practically hibernating, like bears. Here’s his usual and much‑awaited weekly summary.

The first time I tracked my cycling with Strava, and hit 20 KM! by @slowjournals.

Funnily enough, when I arrived exactly in front of my house, the Strava app showed about 19.96 km, so I turned around for a moment to cycle, probably less than a minute so that it can reached 20km LOL of course I did it on purpose😁

🤣

A winter breeze… 🥶 Havana 2/2 (+ video)

Visit to the Ruins of a Sugar Mill and a bit of birding (+ Video)

Birding and a brief window for…

The last three posts are by someone called nanixxx — I also doubt anyone will beat that in a single week. Haha… just kidding. I’m sure someone will. In fact, thanks to #Strava2Hive there are many regulars, but I have to mention the specific case of @kiwibloke, who treated us to a wonderful ride from Petone to Wellington, with both countryside and city views, always with the Hutt River as a companion.

Outdoor cycle by Kiwibloke.

You can tell exactly where he passed because he kindly added a caption for each place. And wow, there are cyclists over there who take it very seriously — I saw someone overtake him at great speed, haha. What a delight that our friend took the time to edit this video and share his route with us. I truly appreciate it. Thank you, thank you so much for that.

Applause for everyone who takes the time to add a few lines describing their ride, telling us the basics of the outing or the training session. I believe we all always have something to say. When we’re on the bike, so many thoughts cross our minds — I’ve even seen people thinking about the monthly power‑up we do here on Hive on the first day of each month. Powering up at least 10 Hive into our stake. That’s brilliant, everyone!

And I won’t go on any longer… I need to head to the garden. Don’t postpone your tasks if you want to enjoy more time on the bike — remember that!

Remember to use the hashtag #SundayChitChat, and feel free to invite a friend to join in. That will help us connect with more people.

Bye, see you soon.

Haha, yeah well that's only because of time zone issues plus we're still early in developing the cycling community here, one day there will be WALLS of posts replying to your ChitChat Challenges!

Of course I'm first again because I only had to make the last part, the rest was already in the draft 😁
