How can we make the cycling community even more active?

Over the past weeks the Cycling Community has become more and more active again. More stories about rides, bicycles and maintenance are shared and there is more interaction in the comment sections. I want to credit @nanixxx for her positive contribution to this. The Cycling Community has become more lively!

This incentivised me to try to take it even a step further.
How can we make the cycling community even more active?

I’d like to invite everyone to think about ways to make the Cycling Community even more active and engaging. What can we do differently? What can we improve? And how can we encourage more cyclists to join our community and share their stories (there must be way more cyclists on Hive)?

Inviting cyclists to Hive

There are many cyclists on X, Bluesky, Strava, and Instagram who might want to share their stories on hive too. Bringing them in could add new energy, new stories, and new perspectives. But we might also attract cyclists in the real world.
I already have an account on BlueSky which I use to cross post blogs from the Cycling Community.

And then there is a new initiative with the Hive Giftcards (https://peakd.com/hive-139531/@demotruk/hive-invite-cards-frictionless-onboarding-that-anyone-can-run ) makes it a lot easier to get someone an accoun that can be used right away.
We could share these gift cards on Social Media or in other places where a lot of cyclists come.

But I’m sure there are many more ideas out there.
So we'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

Let us know in the comments or join us in the Discord server (https://discord.gg/M6PHq5uYYF) to share your ideas.

Let’s keep building this community together 🚴‍♂️

Yes, I saw that Hive Giftcard post. What a great idea, especially the expiration feature. If only I was younger with my greater circle of contacts.

Thanks! I've adjusted the link.
If you have any other ideas to improve the cycling community, please share 🙂

By the way… this Sunday’s chat can start from these ideas, because I’ve decided to go cycling and I think I’ll write the initiative post later tonight. 😅

I’ve got several ideas… we really should have an online shop with cycling clothes and cycling gear featuring the Hive logo! We could try to convince influencers like Phil Level Up to wear them, so that he creates an account on Hive and talks about it…
We’re going to set up a place over there in the Netherlands or anywhere in the world to host meet‑ups for Hive cyclists… don’t forget to reserve a ticket for me, I’ll gladly go hahaha. 😁
We can try to insert our promo into Web2 cycling platforms.
We can take our promotional materials — banners, T‑shirts and all that — to triathlons and cycling events and create accounts there.

Thank you!

Some great ideas!
I do wonder who will buy Hive branded clothes though.

We can try to insert our promo into Web2 cycling platforms.

That's what I'm trying to do on BlueSky. Promoting our community and trying to onboard cyclists.
If we can get make these gift cards, we could indeed leave them at cycling events and in cycling shops.

We could also share some more short form content about cycling on the different apps (Snaps, Waves, Liketu etc.).
Today I shared I was cleaning my bicycle using the #cycling tag:

Yes, I think we have to do it that way too. It would help the community grow from within… I’ll share on microblogging whenever I can.
