Announcing DLive Beta
Hi there,
After a month of development and an alpha test, we are happy to bring DLive to the public and show you how to use it ( https://www.dlive.io ). We recommend Chrome as the test field.
What is DLive?
DLive is the first decentralized video live streaming platform on Steem! It can be seen as the Twitch on the Steem blockchain including, but not limited to, gaming contents. You can learn more through this link: https://steemit.com/dlive/@dlive/dlive-the-first-decentralized-live-streaming-platform-on-steem
Let’s start it!
Login:
We are using SteemConnect as our login tool because it makes STEEM login and key management much easier, and it’s officially run by @busy.org . Here’s the link: https://steemit.com/steemconnect/@busy.org/introducing-steemconnect-by-busy-identity-authentication-authorization-for-steem-blockchain-s-apps
Broadcast
We recommend broadcasters use OBS as our encoder.
Next, fill in the description information and upload a thumbnail image.
Fill in the post information and press post button.
OBS setting, fill in the setting information based on the information in the DLive Live Streaming page.
Start broadcasting: press the “Start Streaming” button on the OBS, then press “Start“ button on the DLive page.
You can view your live streaming in your profile or new posts.
After the broadcast, you can press end to end the video section, and you can download it later.
Video Upload:
We are also supporting video upload on our websites. To upload, do the following:
Click Upload
Select a video less than 1 GB, fill out the post information, then press “Submit.”
Post the video on Steemit.

I have been telling so many people about this, and how live streaming is the BIG thing right now.. So a Live Streaming Service that pays you in crypto will be the biggest thing I think for STEEM and Social Networking right now!!

Sounds exciting! I'm such a noob I still don't fully understand blockchain and Steemit and all that but I know it's exciting to learn about it and the potential for the future. I really hope one day this all grows bigger than Fakebook so people can share in a great community and not sharing images and articles to which only the corporations claim all the rewards. This system feels so revolutionary even if I don't fully understand it yet.

I have streamed a video but after I stopped it I cannot find it anymore. It said that I have 24 hours to download it. Do I have to download and reupload? Where can I find it?
Go to your profile and find "Past Broadcast" to download.
Thank you, that feature wasn't available last night. I found it today and reuploaded my video. I find the process highly counter-intuitve to download and upload a streaming video. This should be done automatically. Now it forces everyone to create two posts for one video on the Steem blockchain.
Thanks for your suggestions! Also, We notice that the video that you uploaded was broken for some reasons. We would like to know more details about your download&uploading process and find out what the problem is.
I used Chrome because on Firefox the download button didn't work. Since I don't want to run Chrome on my main pc I switched to my Surface 4 Pro and downloaded it there. The video fragmentation was already on the file on my computer when I downloaded it from you. I thought it might be a weird encoding or whatever and uploaded it as it was again, still using Chrome. That is basically it.
I used OBS to record it which I usually never use. I have vMix which is much more professional and a premium studio software for high quality streaming. My OBS was just installed on the fly and did nor work with the NDI plugin that I need to run my animated Steemy puppet and pull the data life from Adobe Character Animator which I usually use in all my videos. Tt is ideal for streaming but with OBS not so much.
I've just noticed the same thing except I didn't live stream the video. I wanted to test it out so I simply uploaded an existing video I had.
When I click on my profile, there is no video on my page. There is only a message that says "Sadly, this user doesn't have any broadcasts or videos"
I used Chrome.

I've been going around from streamers to streamers who I know got banned from Twitch or demonetized on YouTube, but who have an audience and told them about DLive. Will be awesome if they now have something to try out immediately :)

Thanks to everyone that worked on this and made it happen. Now I can livestream on Steemit. Now maybe I can get the people from YouTube more interested in this. Great job and keep up the good work guys!
Chat in a streaming video isn't working after I logged in. It was working before I logged in.
Also there are small hiccups every now and then, not sure if it's my end or the streamers or something on your side.

Wonderful! I'm happy to see it works in my Pale Moon browser (unlike D.Tube which shows only a blank screen - @dtube) and videos play smoothly.
How would I stream the PS4? I normally use the Elgato HD 60 which Is hooked up to a computer and console?

Hey no worries, you're doing a great job, I've found a way to do it with the PS4 remote app on pc that works remotely with the PS4 and OBS, so when I have a free evening I will try It, I'm very excited for this, we've been waiting a while. Awesome work!

Can you upload to dlive from a mobile device eg android platform?
Dtube wouldn't let me. And when it did let me the damn video didn't play. I don't want to sign up and waste my time again. And anogher question is it secure to give them our master password?
Makes me feel a little uncomfortable.

Yes this happens. Close or clear your browser cache and retry .
Mine comes up blank also. I'm using Chrome on Mac Version 63.0.3239.84 (Official Build) (64-bit).
I cant login in DLive through Steem Connect . steemconnect don't recognize the password. and say (Password or key is not valid)
are you making sure to click on the button that says "show private" for your key?

I had one problem; I couldn't see the comments of my viewers. It showed 0 comments on dlive but on Steemit it showed replies to the livestream post...

That's nice that dlive takes no cut from the content creator, but what about long term funding for the project? It would be interesting to find out, or if it's already been stated I apologize for missing it... :)

Hey @DLive weirdest thing, I have to use a VPN to use Dlive.io or else it sends me to an "error can't reach page message" on Brave browser (the best browser) and chrome. Any reason why?
Where are you at? It should be fine in most regions.
I'm in Pennsylvania, PA and I am currently on my college campus. Without a VPN I get this message: "A connection was reset (corresponding to a TCP RST). https://www.dlive.io/" I'm using Brave Browser and BetterVPN for DLive to load. Great job so far btw

Very cool. Very much looking forward to using this sort of thing as I continue to incorporate video in my posts. I believe I need hardward upgrades on my end, but the concept is looking like it will be very useful. Congrats to your and your team. Sharing your post on the twitters. So is DLive a competitor to DTube?
If I understand correctly, I have the option to stream live or upload recorded videos on DLive. Is that correct?
Just tried it out and uploaded my first video!
I have to say that DLive's upload process is a lot less frustrating than DTube's by comparison. What took me an hour to upload a 90 second video on Dtube, took me about 15 min. on DLive.
One complaint I have is that there aren't enough categories and I had to choose one that does not apply to my video's subject.
I just said the same thing a moment ago before I read your comment. I guess the community will shape it. A Twitch alternative, a first, based on cryptocurrency would really great. A gaming community on Steemit would do serious wonders.
It looks like people aren't streaming but just treating it like Youtube. Also, not original content either. Needs legitmacy from gamers and broadcasters to make this viable for new streamers.

Aye, it does. At the moment, it looks like meld of Youtube and Twitch. If it can nail the Twitch feel that's going to be amazing. I haven't used Dtube as much but I guess healthy "competition" on the same blockchain don't hurt.

Trying to go live now! I input the stream information and I'm getting a failed to connect error in OBS :(
I got it past the failed to connect portion by starting the stream on dlive, unfortunately I'm getting "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."
Server problem. Try to reduce the quality and size of video so it can easily be loaded on server
Any ideas what an ideal bitrate is? Originally I was setup to stream on twitch so I put it at 3500.

This could be massive also for the Adult Live Streaming business (e.g.: CamGirls), though would probably require its own separate site. Live Streams with a #nsfw or #porn or #camgirl tag could be easily redirected to an adult oriented site. DLiveSex or whatever name.

This is wonderful news to hear! I don't do much live streaming at the moment but this has made me think twice about it. I've been thinking of a lot of ideas lately and this encourages me. Shall be streaming on this platform more regularly from now on.
The RMTP address of this stream should also work for multistreaming via restream.io, gonna try that so that we can broadcast to dlive, twitch and youtube at the same time for starters.

@dlive Finally! This is some great news for the Youtube/Twitch gaming community! They will absolutely love the idea of being able to upload and stream their content on a decentralized platform like Steemit.
Do you have any plans on marketing the platform to those target markets? And do you plan on having an SMT set up so that Steemians can invest in your project?
Also, on another note, do you think that Steemit as a platform and Dlive may be at risk and targeted by the new FCC regulations as Net Neutrality is on the way of being repealed?

Not sure what you mean. Steem has not been appreciating as much as all the other altcoins out there. That does not mean that we do not see HUGE value in it. I think that Steem is one of those tokens that is VERY under priced by the market.
steem is overpriced as per economic standards .. its just getiing ssssteeem
I certainly can appreciate your point of view. As the joke goes, our opinion on the price/value of anything is dependent on if we are buying or selling it ;)
To be honest I just recently found out about Steem and did not really think about it as an actual currency.
I think of it more as a participation token which allows you to use this wonderful platform as well as to participate in its growth :)

But all coins are being printed until their caps are reached...
And until they hit this hard cap its hard to says its undervalued
We need a a lot of inflation. This engages writers to keep writing.
I also think that all these new projects being built on top of Steem are only adding value to the token, similar to how ICOs of ERC-20 tokens add value to Ethereum.
I'm new here but i totally agree, a few week ago a heard about steemit and didn't give it much thought. Today finally got into it and i learned that there is d.tube, steepshot and now dlive. All of this with the same account. I love it !

Wow! This is just what I have been looking for as I wish to do my gigs live on Steemit as I have been on facebook which, gets lots of views.
This could be the final push for me to leave Facebook altogether as Steemit with DLive streaming functionality, will now have everything I need.

This is incredible. It seems like every other week there's something else launching. I continue to be amazed by how active this community is. We easily have to have one of the most active communities in the crypto space outside of Bitcoin and Ethereum. What other crypto has as much going on as Steemit?

This comes just in time as today was officially the last day of Vidme. It shut down and deleted all videos so creators are searching for alternative platforms.
I've joined BitChute but I am not convinced it will thrive.

I've done everything exactly as you've said in the guide and all I get is "Failed to connect to server" error.
I've added the SERVER URL, STREAM KEY, USERNAME and PASSWORD exactly as they are on go-live/info page (I've double checked all the info)
I'm using latest OBS studio - 20.1.3 (64 bit)
Please let me know how can I resolve the issue.

Broadcast
We recommend broadcasters use OBS as our encoder.

Start broadcasting: press the “Start Streaming” button on the OBS, then press “Start“ button on the DLive page.
You can view your live streaming in your profile or new posts.
After the broadcast, you can press end to end the video section, and you can download it later.

Select a video less than 1 GB, fill out the post information, then press “Submit.”

Can D-live work with X-split software?
i checked it out as im a gamer myself and all i saw is gsgo livestream which is fine then a stream called cryptohoe which was not what i was hoping to see the community right now of dlive that i saw wasent appealing
So what is that YOU wish to see on decentralizedlive? If you personally do not like something, that's fine, there are obviously a bunch of people who do, I'm sure you noticed that as well. I'm not a gamer but I'm not going to call out gaming as something I don't want to see. Focus on what you like, not what you don't like, or start gamelive and restrict access to only those that meet your standards. The blockchain is going to give you a lot of bad times honestly. I sincerely hope you're ready for a decentralized world. Good luck to you!

@dlive I'm still experiencing this issue. Tried in Opera, Chrome, Edge. Tried many different file format, differetn image sizes. Can't get the thumbnail to upload

Very cool! Gave it a shot. Had a few issues with buffering, largely expected for a new service, and also noticed that my stream cut off when I stopped broadcasting instead of catching up to the end of my stream. That was somewhat more unfortunate, but I imagine it will be tweaked to function a bit smoother in the future. Super excited that this is a thing now!
I tried to stream with OBS but I just get 2000 kb/s and the stream is constantly lagging. My current location is from Germany.
Is there any optimal configuration regarding Video Bitrate....

Today, I posted My first video. To be honest, I sent it to both Dlive and Dtube. After testing, I noticed that I can not see my video in the"new/lifestyle" area of DLIVE but almost immediately, I saw it next to another gals post. She too had posted to both platforms (?), here hours later, I still do not see my post, under new. I attempted to see if I could get another vantage point, but I do not have another account to test whether or not it was view-able and in sequence. If anyone can screen shot that and send it to me, that would be Great! Ultimately, while I had some multiple hiccup's with Dtube (uploading) I was able to upload fast and could use multiple Tags (I liked that). But even now Hours Later I can still see my post on Dlive in the new/lifestyle area and it has no issues being transparent to it's location and timestamp, but with the other DTube I notice that a few videos by tenured content creators appear (who multi posted when I did) and theirs shows up. In fact, Today I posted my first blog on steemit and can see it in the new section updated (10 minutes later). I am not sure why I can't see my own in the chain of new videos but It is not getting any traffic, Suggestions?
The new videos aren't updated instantly just like when you post on Steepshot, it won't show on their app right away but will show on Steemit.com
Only suggestion I have is to be patient and check back later.
